Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Anaesthetist to join our dynamic team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Anaesthesia Department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality anaesthesia services to patients undergoing general, major, and high-risk surgery.

About the Role

This is a replacement Consultant post, and we are looking for a dynamic individual with broad interests in anaesthesia, including experience in regional, vascular, and/or trauma management. The postholder will have significant involvement in the delivery of emergency anaesthesia, both during daytime cover and as part of the general consultant on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide a high-quality anaesthesia service for patients undergoing general, major, and high-risk surgery.
  2. Contribute to the development and delivery of aspects of anaesthesia services, depending on your interests and experience.
  3. Work collaboratively with other Consultants and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  4. Participate in clinical governance initiatives, including audit and quality improvement projects.
  5. Contribute to the education and training of junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
  6. Engage in research and publication activities, as appropriate.

Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant Anaesthetist with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Registerable medical qualification.
  • FRCA or equivalent.
  • Full Registration with GMC and completed subspecialty training programme in anaesthesia.
  • Eligible to apply for a Substantive Consultant post - CCT or within 6 months of completion.
  • Wide experience in delivery of anaesthesia for general, major/high-risk surgery and trauma/cepod surgery.
  • Award of CCT or equivalent.
