Position Overview

Acorn Insurance and Financial Services Limited is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Cyber Security Team as a Cyber Security Operations Manager. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of three, ensuring that our security strategies and roadmaps are effectively aligned. Your primary focus will be on delivering robust technical security solutions while guaranteeing that all services across our technical landscape are executed securely.

Job Title: Cyber Security Operations Manager

Location: Hybrid working available with management discretion

Compensation: Competitive salary

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:30

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the workload, task assignments, and professional development of the Cyber Security Operations team.
  • Review and manage all security implementations, configurations, and maintenance of technologies to meet service level agreements and key performance indicators.
  • Ensure that all necessary technical security measures are established and implemented according to best practice standards.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Information Security and technical colleagues to deliver cost-effective security solutions.
  • Engage with project and technical teams for change initiatives, ensuring that security considerations are integrated throughout.
  • Continuously monitor, maintain, and assess our threat landscape and overall security posture.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of current security solutions and processes, identifying opportunities for enhancement.
  • Research and assess alternative vendors and technologies to bolster our security posture and meet business requirements.
  • Support and influence the strategy for penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, working with technical peers to address security vulnerabilities promptly and in accordance with established security guidelines.
  • Assist the organization in maintaining and achieving various industry certifications, including PCI/DSS, Cyber Essentials Plus, and ISO27001.
  • Provide governance support by maintaining a centralized security logging solution, analyzing, mitigating, and reporting on identified security threats, and documenting them in risk logs.
  • Offer expertise and support in troubleshooting, resolving, mitigating, and reporting on security incidents, including conducting root cause analyses.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Possesses a deep understanding of security technologies and standards.
  • Demonstrates proven experience in a senior security-focused role, with a background in technical operational security disciplines and team leadership.
  • Familiar with NIST, NCSC, and CIS standards and their application.
  • Understands security governance, risk management, and compliance expectations.
  • Knowledgeable about web technologies, including web applications, web services, and related protocols.
  • Experienced with Azure Cloud platform assets and security tools.
  • Proficient in Office 365 Security suites and Endpoint Security.
  • Experienced in designing and implementing enterprise-grade security solutions, including anti-malware, IPS/IDS, firewalls, SWG, SEG, and SIEM.
  • Skilled in managing TLS, SSL certificates, encryption, DKIM/SPF, and DDoS mitigation.
