Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Procurement Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, pricing, soliciting, analyzing, composing, and processing purchase requests for materials, services, and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare purchase orders and coordinate with complex managers in the ordering of required commodities and services
  • Purchase goods and services
  • Solicit verbal and written quotations
  • Research commodity areas, specifications, and contractual terms to fulfill departmental requirements and compose bids/proposals and quotes
  • Analyze submitted proposals, seek end user's input, and prepare an award recommendation for the approval process
  • Research new sources and maintain lists of vendors able to service departmental needs
  • Correspond with vendors for pricing, availability, and market trends
  • Plan and participate in commodity surveys, analyzing results and take necessary action
  • Drive on state business
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the Arizona Procurement Code and statewide procurement software (Arizona Procurement Portal)
  • Departmental policies and procedures relating to purchasing
  • Purchasing business practices and procedures
  • Mathematics and general accounting techniques
  • A wide variety of standard commodities and products
  • Supply sourcing
  • Local and national markets
  • Pricing trends
  • Computers and various software applications
  • Business English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Office procedures and equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in computers and purchasing business practices and procedures

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
