Position Overview
The Field Examiner for Asset-Based Lending (ABL) is responsible for conducting comprehensive due diligence activities across various regions, including the UK, Europe, and APAC, specifically focusing on asset-backed financial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Due diligence is typically executed at the client's location for financial facilities ranging from £1 million to over £1 billion. The successful candidate will be adept at analyzing and synthesizing data with exceptional attention to detail, complemented by strong written, numerical, and verbal communication skills.
Core Duties Include:
- Collecting and analyzing client financial data, including accounts receivable, inventory, and accounts payable, along with historical performance metrics.
- Conducting thorough testing and valuation of collateral that secures loans for both existing and prospective borrowers, identifying any significant credit risks, discrepancies, and formulating conclusions or recommendations.
- Assessing the integrity of accounting system controls, data accuracy, and managerial oversight. For current facilities, verifying that essential controls are established for precise collateral reporting.
- Preparing or validating borrowing base calculations for new and existing lending facilities.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders and client management, from operational levels to executive leadership.
- Documenting findings in workpapers and written reports to assist clients in making informed credit decisions.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess at least two years of professional experience in a relevant sector (such as audit, banking, or insolvency). Candidates must demonstrate the ability to process data and communicate findings with a high degree of accuracy and meticulousness.
Essential Skills:
- Exceptional report writing and communication abilities.
- Critical thinking skills, particularly in a dynamic work environment.
- A proactive and inquisitive mindset, with the capability to devise innovative solutions to challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; familiarity with SQL or other programming languages is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate professional relationships.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with clients and senior management.
- Willingness to travel as necessary across the UK, Europe, and APAC.
