Job Overview

The Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking dedicated and skilled Pediatric Nursing Specialists to join our esteemed Starlight Ward team. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about providing exceptional care to children within our community.

We welcome applications from nurses across all specialties, as we value diverse nursing backgrounds in our acute care setting. Candidates with adult nursing experience must demonstrate prior work with pediatric patients.

Our unit comprises 18 beds, delivering comprehensive care to infants, children, and adolescents aged 0-16, with an evolving pathway for those aged 16 and 17. We cater to a wide range of medical conditions, including day case procedures and emergency surgeries. Our facility also offers High Dependency Unit (HDU) care for patients requiring close monitoring before transfer for advanced interventions.

The successful candidates will collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to plan, implement, and assess patient care. We provide support through our Practice Development Nurse and Practice Facilitator, who will assist in your professional growth and development. Numerous training opportunities are available to enhance your skills.

Important Note: This position is not suitable for Overseas Registered Nurses who need to complete the OSCE exam.

Working Hours: Full-time position

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Collaborating with clinical colleagues within children and families' services and the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Engaging with parents and caregivers of children and young individuals.
  • Supporting care programs and pathways.
  • Assisting senior nursing staff in achieving departmental goals.
  • Effectively communicating with all members of the multidisciplinary team to foster teamwork and participate in MDT meetings.
  • Accurately documenting patient information in accordance with standards related to admission, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.

We encourage prospective candidates to arrange informal visits to meet our team members.

Interviews will be conducted in person.
