Senior Archivist: Academic and Public Engagement

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Archivist to lead our Academic and Public Engagement team. As a key member of our Manuscripts and Special Collections (MSC) management team, you will contribute to the strategic development of our section and inspire your team to deliver a high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on increasing use of our collections by internal and external audiences
  • Strengthen and develop relationships with academic departments to increase use for research and teaching
  • Develop and expand public engagement activities, promoting our collections to new and diverse audiences
  • Manage our popular exhibition programme
  • Deliver public services in the reading room and develop our website and digital content

Requirements:

  • Passion for archives, manuscripts, and special collections
  • Demonstrable experience of using and promoting them for research, teaching, and public engagement
  • Confidence speaking to specialist and non-specialist audiences
  • Experience of managing digitisation services and/or using technology to widen access to collections
