Senior Archivist: Academic and Public Engagement

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Archivist to lead our Academic and Public Engagement team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase use of our collections by internal and external audiences.
  • Strengthen relationships with academic departments to increase use for research and teaching.
  • Develop and expand public engagement activities to promote our collections to new and diverse audiences.
  • Manage our popular exhibition programme and public services in the reading room.
  • Develop and maintain our website and digital content.
  • Contribute to the collective leadership of the section and its strategic development.
  • Lead the Academic and Public Engagement team, planning, managing, and co-ordinating work across the team.

Requirements:

  • Passion for archives, manuscripts, and special collections.
  • Demonstrable experience of using and promoting them for research, teaching, and public engagement.
  • Confidence in speaking to a range of specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • Experience of managing digitisation services and/or the use of technology to widen access to collections is an advantage.
