Job Overview

NELFT NHS Foundation Trust is a leading provider of Mental Health Support Teams in England, with a strong presence in Southend, Essex, and Thurrock. Our teams work closely with schools to deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work in partnership with schools to support children, young people, and their families in the self-management of mental health difficulties. This will involve offering one-to-one sessions, group sessions, and whole-school approaches.

As an autonomous and responsible clinician, the practitioner will work alongside education colleagues to deliver interventions in primary, secondary, and higher education settings. They will be responsible for completing robust assessments, risk assessments, care plans, and reviews.

The practitioner will also be proficient in using Routine Outcome Measures (ROMS) and clinical tools to gather feedback and guide clinical practice. They will work closely with other EMHPs/CWPs and Senior Mental Health Practitioners to support learning and development.

Requirements
  • Successful completion of the HEE/NHSE commissioned Education Mental Health Practitioner course or Children's Wellbeing Practitioner course.
  • Appropriate registration with either the BABCP or BPS as a low-intensity practitioner.
  • Experience of delivering specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families (CBT, solution-focused brief therapy).
  • Ability to conduct mental health assessments, risk assessments, and communicate appropriately with children, young people, and parents.
Working for NELFT

NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction, which will include mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex. The successful applicant will be required to work agilely between NELFT sites and educational settings, with some travel around the county expected.
