Job Overview

NELFT NHS Foundation Trust is the largest provider of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in England, covering 144 schools in Southend, Essex, and Thurrock. Our teams deliver evidence-based individual and group interventions in educational settings for children experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties aged 4 to 18 years old.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will work in partnership with schools to support children, young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, and their families in the self-management of presenting difficulties. This will include offering 1:1 sessions, group sessions, and whole school approaches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct robust assessments, risk assessments, care plans, and reviews.
  • Be proficient in using Routine Outcome Measures (ROMS) and clinical tools to gather feedback and guide clinical practice.
  • Work alongside education colleagues and other EMHPs/CWPs in educational settings.
  • Support learning and development with Senior Mental Health Practitioners.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Successful completion of the HEE/NHSE commissioned 1yr Education Mental Health Practitioner' course/Children's Wellbeing Practitioner course.
  • Appropriate registration with either the BABCP or BPS as a low-intensity practitioner.
  • Experience of delivering specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families (CBT, solution-focused brief therapy).
  • Ability to conduct mental health assessments, risk assessments, and communicate appropriately with children, young people, and parents.
Working for NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks.

Base

This post requires the successful applicant to work agilely between NELFT sites and educational settings. For applicants to have the ability to work independently is an important factor. Some travel around the county is also expected.
