About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Orthopaedic Technician to join our team at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Orthopaedic Outpatients department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality casting services for patients with a range of orthopaedic conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centred casting services for orthopaedic outpatients, including routine and complex plaster techniques.
- Carry out a full range of plaster techniques, including specialist and synthetic casts, as well as resting and functional splinting.
- Support patients during cast application and removal, and provide advice on cast and splint care.
- Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver excellent patient care.
Person Specification
Essential
- BOA/RCN (SON) AOT Diploma in casting techniques or British Casting Certificate.
- Willingness to expand role and skills to meet the needs of children and families attending the plaster room.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology relevant to orthopaedics.
- Able to work effectively as an empowered member of the multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable
- Experience of working in an acute hospital environment.
- Evidence of enthusiasm, flexibility, and commitment to team ethos.
