Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our manufacturing business in the North West, UK. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving commercial growth and delivering sales targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full P&L responsibility for a multi-site business supplying construction materials
  • Strategic and enthusiastic leadership of the established leadership team across sales, operations, and finance, actively supporting professional and personal development
  • Conduct a review of the business and execute a strategic sales business plan designed to optimize performance through commercial growth
  • Delivery of sales growth predominantly through the builders merchant sector, contractors, and direct to end-customers who have a requirement
  • Represent the company at senior levels within the customer base to ensure that relationships are maintained and enhanced as an aid to achieving sales targets
  • Work closely and collaborating with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders within the group
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the market, trends, and commercial opportunities that your business and the group could exploit
  • Identify new product and market opportunities and determine optimal pricing to balance profit with customer satisfaction
  • Develop and maintain excellent health and safety standards throughout the business
  • Working closely with your established operations team to maintain consistent product quality, manufacturing efficiencies, and implement operational best practice
  • Maintain and develop organizational culture, values, and reputation in its markets and across the employee base

Requirements

  • Experienced as a Sales/Commercial leader wanting to develop into general management or an already experienced General Manager looking for career development
  • Proven track record of growing a business or a division ahead of market growth rates
  • Experience in the building products/construction materials supply industry is preferred but our client is open-minded for a high-caliber leader who can display the correct skillset required and has worked in related industries
  • Entrepreneurial spirit who is extremely driven in approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident decision maker with P&L experience and an analytical mindset to analyze data to make commercial decisions
  • An open and likable personality with honesty and integrity
  • Ambitious mindset who is looking to develop career within a large group
  • Ability to commute daily to a head office in North West, UK
