Fire Door and Block Inspector

This is a critical position within the Ashford Borough Council's Compliance Department, responsible for ensuring fire safety, compliance, and quality of housing blocks within the local authority's jurisdiction.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular and systematic inspections of housing blocks to assess their condition, safety, and compliance with Fire Safety Regulations, building regulations, and housing standards.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for further action, reporting back to the line manager any deviation from the expected standards.
- Assist in the enforcement of relevant housing legislation, council regulations, and standards, taking appropriate actions to address non-compliance issues.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, noting any violations, defects, or areas of concern.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Fire door inspection qualifications such as BM TRADA, City and Guilds, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of building design, construction, undertaking surveys, remedial repairs, and experience of carrying out inspections on day-to-day repairs within tenanted and void properties and communal areas of housing blocks.
- Experience of using a Schedule of Rates ordering system.
- Familiarity with using and working with client specifications.
- Sound knowledge of CDM.
- Detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, processes, materials, and legal matters.
