About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Site Technician to join our team at Carbon60 - Eng&Tech. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, service, and refurbishment of mechanical equipment associated with our core business of penstocks, valves, and actuators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and enforce safe practices within the team to ensure works are delivered safely.
  • Install, service, repair, and commission flow control and associated equipment.
  • Carry out minor civils works associated with flow control equipment.
  • Fault finding and diagnosis.
  • Following engineering drawings.
  • Gathering details, measurements, and full descriptions of any components that require replacement.
  • Working in an outdoor environment in different weather conditions.
  • Handing customers in a professional manner.
  • Helping ensure projects are on schedule through monitoring operations/communicating on progress to Project Engineers and Site Service Managers.
  • Conduct inspections on partially completed and finished works, to ensure quality standards are upheld and visible to the customer.
  • Provide daily reports to coworkers and updates to the business on the project progress.
  • Lead in day-to-day communications with the customer on site.
  • Responsible for the completion of site documentation and reporting of progress.
  • Provide direction and supervision to Site Technicians.
  • Contribute to production of RAMS and other H&S documentation as the company and its clients require, utilising the experience of engineering and H&S staff across the company.
  • Hold team meetings to allow for effective communication within the team.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities and works.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with previous experience in an equivalent role in mechanical engineering, preferably in the water/wastewater industry. SSSTS qualification is preferred. A solid technical background, ideally with penstocks, valves, actuators, and associated equipment, is essential. Ability to understand and work to engineering drawings is also required.

You should be able to travel throughout the Kent region on a daily basis and occasionally travel across the UK and have overnight stays, in line with the needs of the company, its workload, and customers. Enthusiastic approach with a keen eye on continuous improvement to maintain demanding schedules and adhering to our strict safe working practices is a must.

Physically fit and experienced in confined space working are also essential. Proven experience of dealing with key customers in a professional manner, excellent communication and solution-oriented problem-solving ability, and attention to detail and observation are highly valued.

Flexibility to adjust workload priorities to take account of new deadlines and IT fluency are also required. Full driving licence is essential.

Working Hours

39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8 hours per day, Friday 7 hours per day. Working within the working window between the hours of 07:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday, flexible by agreement.

This position pays up to £48,000 per annum depending on experience.
