Job Details:

  • Location: Leyburn
  • Position: Transport Planner
  • Type: Permanent
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5pm
  • Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum

About the Role:

The Transport Planner will be responsible for optimizing logistics and transportation of goods, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing overall operational efficiency. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize transportation routes to ensure efficient, on-time deliveries while reducing costs and fuel consumption.
  • Oversee transport operations to ensure adherence to all relevant UK and EU regulations, as well as safety standards.
  • Track and evaluate transport expenses, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Leverage transport management software and telematics systems for real-time tracking, route planning, and optimization.
  • Coordinate with drivers and internal teams to manage delivery schedules and resolve any issues.
  • Review and analyze transport data to identify trends, improve processes, and generate reports for senior management.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.

About You:

  • The ideal candidate will hold a degree or relevant qualification in Transport Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in transport planning or logistics within the haulage industry is essential.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with transport management software are required.
  • Knowledge of UK transport regulations and compliance is necessary.
  • A understanding of sustainability practices in transport is desirable.
