Job Title: Transport Planner

RMS Recruitment is partnering with a family-run agricultural and transport business to find a skilled Transport Planner to join their expanding team.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Transport Planner to optimize logistics and transportation operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize transportation routes to ensure efficient, on-time deliveries while reducing costs and fuel consumption.
  • Oversee transport operations to ensure adherence to all relevant UK and EU regulations, as well as safety standards.
  • Track and evaluate transport expenses, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Leverage transport management software and telematics systems for real-time tracking, route planning, and optimization.
  • Coordinate with drivers and internal teams to manage delivery schedules and resolve any issues.
  • Review and analyze transport data to identify trends, improve processes, and generate reports for senior management.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.

Requirements:

  • A degree or relevant qualification in Transport Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in transport planning or logistics within the haulage industry is essential.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with transport management software.
  • Understanding of UK transport regulations and compliance.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices in transport.
