About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and enthusiastic Environmental Health professional or graduate in a related field who can demonstrate competency as required by the Food Law Code of Practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Regulatory services with business engagement, conduct visits, investigate complaints, and perform food inspections.
  • Promote public health messages in the business community through visits, including advice on 'Living with COVID,' infection control, ventilation, and risk assessments.
  • Support businesses on the Healthy Catering Commitment and High Fat Salt and Sugars legislation compliance.
  • Promote the borough's School Superzones initiative and provide advice to shisha cafes on food hygiene and food standards interventions.
  • Share smoking cessation offers and advice on single-use plastics legislation.
  • Monitor and enforce licensing compliance (training provided).
  • Undertake food hygiene and food standards inspections, primarily C rated and below, with potential for all category inspections based on qualifications and experience.
Requirements
  • Experience in responding to food and safety service requests and conducting investigations.
  • Organized, diligent, and flexible with excellent record keeping and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and with changing priorities while collaborating with other teams within the Regulatory Service.
  • Familiarity with the IDOX Uniform database is desirable.
  • Access to transport, a full driving licence, and business insurance are essential.
