Job Title: Transport Planner Operator

Gregory Distribution is seeking a skilled Transport Planner Operator to join our team in Hereford. As a key member of our transport operation, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of our fleet and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Transport Manager in managing and motivating the transport team to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Plan and organize transportation activities, including peak and off-peak periods, to ensure maximum resource utilization.
  • Provide leadership on day-to-day transport issues, including dispatch debriefs and vehicle management.
  • Collaborate with customers to ensure seamless operation and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Manage and debrief drivers, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Maximize resource utilization by planning ahead and utilizing assets efficiently.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Transport Manager, highlighting customer-related matters and making recommendations as needed.
  • Monitor and audit Health and Safety protocols to ensure compliance.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in producing KPIs and daily statistics, including POD emailing.
  • Support compliance planning in line with company procedures.
  • Provide direct assistance and support for breakdowns and other operational issues.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in the transport, warehouse, and logistics industry.
  • Strong understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours, and WTDs.
  • Leadership skills and ability to motivate teams.
  • Proven track record of leading successful change initiatives.
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills.
  • Ability to present to senior stakeholders and customers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • IT literacy, including MS Office, and strong analytical skills.
