About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our team as a Band 4 Flow Coordinator in the Emergency Department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will work closely with the clinical and operational teams to ensure a smooth flow of patients out of the Emergency Department. This will involve reviewing referrals to other wards and specialities, anticipating and escalating any issues that may cause delays, and communicating effectively with wards to confirm availability of beds.

The post holder will also support members of the multi-disciplinary team with patient discharge arrangements, including booking transport where necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the clinical and operational teams to ensure a smooth flow of patients out of the Emergency Department
  • Review referrals to other wards and specialities, anticipating and escalating any issues that may cause delays
  • Communicate effectively with wards to confirm availability of beds
  • Support members of the multi-disciplinary team with patient discharge arrangements, including booking transport where necessary
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with the following skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of using full range of IT systems and patient data systems
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to work for long periods on computer
  • Ability to maintain a professional approach at all times
