As a Telecommunications and Operational Technology (OT) Support Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of Shell's offshore facilities, contributing to the energy supply essential for the UK. Collaborating within a cohesive team that includes IT professionals, strategic telecom partners, and technical facility personnel, you will be responsible for the upkeep and enhancement of critical telecom infrastructure while actively participating in the integration of innovative telecom technologies to secure future connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
As an Apprentice hybrid Field Telecoms and Operational Technology (OT) Support Engineer, your primary focus will be on merging both engineering disciplines at Shell UK Exploration and Production (SUKEP) facilities while gaining insights from seasoned engineers.
- Develop a comprehensive technical knowledge of SUKEP telecoms and Operational Support (OT) systems, establishing connections with the business to facilitate system modifications, project deployment, and heightened awareness of telecoms and PCD Integrity requirements and processes.
- Work alongside experienced engineers to manage a variety of technical tasks and assurance, adhering to established procedures and practices within clearly defined responsibilities.
- Collaborate with site personnel, project teams, and vendors to implement standard maintenance routines for Field Telecoms and PCD-I, ensuring all information sources are current.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on Field Telecoms and PCD-I matters.
- Receive supervision to monitor skill development and knowledge acquisition, reporting outcomes to your team leader and management. As your expertise grows, you may also mentor less experienced colleagues.
We are interested in candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- Experience in Field Telecoms and industrial automation and control systems.
- Proficiency in safely handling legacy telecommunications and network equipment.
- Global Industrial Cybersecurity Professional (GICSP) certification.
- Ability to operate effectively without direct supervision in an offshore production environment.
- Experience collaborating with integrated service providers to achieve successful outcomes.
- Strong familiarity with Windows operating systems.
- Prior experience in cybersecurity.
- Quick learner with the ability to acquire new skills rapidly.
- Capable of building strong, productive relationships.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Composed under pressure.
- Strong work ethic and dedication to ensuring satisfaction.
- Experience working in potentially hazardous offshore environments with valid offshore working and medical certifications.
- Competent Telecommunications Person (CTP) certification.
- Familiarity with permit to work processes and systems.
- COMPEX Hazardous Area Training certification.
