Position: Service Technician

Company Overview:
A leading multi-disciplinary engineering firm specializing in providing on-site and workshop services to the water and gas utility sectors, both nationally and internationally.

Role Overview:
The Service Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining and inspecting assets used for the transportation of water and gas. This position involves hands-on work in the field, assisting with the extraction and re-installation of large equipment on gas sites, which may include crane operations. Additionally, the technician will be involved in inspecting water pipelines, often requiring work in deep excavations and the use of specialized inspection tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the extraction and re-installation of large equipment on gas sites.
  • Support inspection activities of water pipelines, including deep excavation work.
  • Install and record readings from water flow monitors.
  • Perform grit blasting and painting of equipment.
  • Collect samples from pipelines and soil for structural analysis.

Personal Attributes:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Physically fit and able to work away from home for up to four days at a time.
  • Proactive in organizing tasks and anticipating work requirements.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow written operating procedures.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Proficient in written English for report writing and capable of performing basic arithmetic for inspections.

Training and Qualifications:
The company offers comprehensive training for the necessary qualifications. However, candidates with any of the following certifications will be at an advantage:
  • MPI PCN Level 2
  • UT Inspection of Wrought Plate (ISO20807) PCN Level 2
  • DPI PCN Level 2
  • VS/02 Visual Inspection
  • Medium Risk Confined Spaces
  • Working at Height
  • PASMA Scaffold Tower
  • UKATA Non-Licensed Asbestos Operative
  • Abrasive Wheels
  • LOLER/Crane Appreciation
  • SHEA Gas / Water
  • Gas Industry Safe Control of Operations (SCO) Level 1 & 2
  • National Water Hygiene Card
  • New Roads and Street Works Act - Signing, Lighting and Guarding
  • Ground Support for Excavations
