Position Overview
The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee our security operations, ensuring the safety and integrity of our critical infrastructure. This role is pivotal in fostering a collaborative environment that enhances the welfare of animals and plants across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage a robust security framework for APHA, including the development of a comprehensive Security Management System.
- Provide strategic guidance to the APHA Executive Board on security risk management and operational direction.
- Contribute to the formulation of security strategies and policies at the Defra Group level.
- Implement industry best practices in security across all operational areas within APHA.
- Promote a culture of security awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
- Assess and communicate the risk landscape concerning physical, personnel, and cyber security threats.
- Lead and develop the security team, ensuring high standards of performance and professional growth.
- Enhance the Threat Vulnerability Risk Analysis (TVRA) process in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the APHA Security Function.
- Offer expert advice and support for incident investigations related to security matters.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A strong background in security and risk management, with the ability to foresee and mitigate potential threats.
- Experience in physical, personnel, or cyber security within a high-stakes environment.
- Proven track record in security compliance and incident management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across various departments and influence stakeholders.
- Experience in managing supplier relationships and contracts effectively.
Qualifications:
Applicants should hold a Level 5 Security Management qualification, alongside relevant certifications in business continuity and cyber security.
