Job Title: Junior Physicist - Radiation Protection

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Physicist to join our Radiation Protection team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Junior Physicist, you will play a crucial role in providing scientific and administrative support to our team, ensuring the safe use of radiation in our diagnostic and therapeutic services.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have an honours degree in Physics or a relevant scientific discipline, with some experience or education in Medical Physics subjects. You will be responsible for collecting and collating data required for Radiation Protection Committees, Patient Dose Audit purposes, and Environmental Monitoring Audits. You will also assist in the commissioning and routine testing of x-ray equipment, develop specialist knowledge of Diagnostic Radiology Physics and Radiation Protection, and gain an understanding of radiation protection, x-ray quality assurance, and approved dosimetry services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide scientific, technical, and administrative support to the Radiation Protection team.
  • Collect and collate data required for Radiation Protection Committees and Patient Dose Audit purposes.
  • Assist in the commissioning and routine testing of x-ray equipment.
  • Develop specialist knowledge of Diagnostic Radiology Physics and Radiation Protection.
  • Gain an understanding of radiation protection, x-ray quality assurance, and approved dosimetry services.
