About the Role
At Tesco, we're committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. As the Head of Reward and Workplace Relations, you'll play a key role in shaping our reward and benefits strategy to attract, retain, and engage our colleagues.

Your Responsibilities
You'll lead the UK Reward and Workplace Relations team, developing and implementing strategies that support our Group People plan and business objectives. Key areas of focus include:
  1. Leading a supportive team, fostering a culture of growth and improvement, and driving continuous development
  2. Designing and implementing the UK Reward and Workplace Relations strategy for all colleagues, from Stores to Office and Distribution
  3. Developing and maintaining colleague policies, ensuring compliance and supporting business needs
  4. Overseeing the total reward proposition for all UK colleagues, including Stores, Office, and Distribution
  5. Leading the annual pay review cycle, including bonus plans, pay gap reporting, salary surveys, and benchmarking
  6. Managing the annual Benefits cycle, including Flexible Benefits, Reward Gateway, Colleague Clubcard, Total Reward Statements, financial wellbeing, and private medical insurance
  7. Negotiating and communicating with unions, representing Tesco at UK forums, the European Works Council, and Group Colleague Contribution Panels
  8. Raising awareness and understanding of Tesco Reward and Benefits among colleagues and managers, promoting pay transparency
  9. Collaborating with the broader People Team, working across markets and subsidiaries to achieve the best outcomes for Tesco and colleagues
  10. Adhering to our Business Code of Conduct and acting with integrity and due diligence

Your Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
  1. Strong team leadership and mentoring skills
  2. The ability to balance strategic planning with operational agility
  3. Effective communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics
  4. Experience implementing Reward, Benefit, and Workplace Relations strategies, with a deep understanding of technical areas and legislative impacts
  5. Experience in running HR policy changes and leading Union negotiations
  6. Proven ability to lead and collaborate with large teams, operating effectively in and out of the detail
