Craft Operative, multi-skilled bricklayer

We are seeking a skilled Craft Operative to join our East Midlands team at the Canal & River Trust. As a Craft Operative, you will play a vital role in maintaining and preserving our historic waterway network.
About the RoleAs a Craft Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repairs works to the waterway infrastructure, including locks, bridges, and aqueducts. You will work efficiently to defined safety and environmental standards, using your carpentry expertise to manufacture and refurbish equipment as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out maintenance and repairs works to the waterway infrastructure, including locks, bridges, and aqueducts.
- Use carpentry expertise to manufacture and refurbish equipment, including lock gates and associated equipment.
- Operate a variety of machinery, plant, and tools, adhering to Canal & River Trust's safety standards.
- Undertake general housekeeping of personal equipment, workshop equipment, and workspace, ensuring all are maintained to defined standards.
- Respond to customers' queries and requirements, including responding to emergencies.
- Assist with the measurement of locks and lock gates to identify correct measurements for manufacture.
- Understand and interpret technical drawings to translate into production.
- Work alongside and supervise volunteers to ensure the Trust has sufficient resources to be sustainable.
We are looking for a skilled Craft Operative with a background in the building trade or carpentry. You will have experience handling plant and equipment, working within relevant disciplines, and reading technical drawings. A full valid UK driving license is also required.
