Therapist Opportunity at Project Indigo

Family Action is seeking a motivated and empathetic counsellor/psychotherapist to join Project Indigo, an LGBTQIA+ youth project in Hackney. The successful candidate will provide affirmative therapeutic support to our members, aged 16 to 25, who identify under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella or are exploring their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Provide safe, confidential, and affirmative therapeutic spaces for our members, supporting them with a range of difficult life and/or mental health issues.
  2. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of issues facing young LGBTQIA+ people, particularly trans and gender diverse individuals, and have clinical experience working with this group.
  3. Address the diverse needs of our young people by adopting an intersectional and person-centred approach.
Requirements:
  1. BACP/UKCP registration with proven experience of working affirmatively with LGBTQIA+ young people in a clinical setting.
  2. Empathy and understanding of the social and political issues impacting LGBTQIA+ young people.
  3. Identification as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, in line with Project Indigo's peer-led service model.
  4. Understanding of risk management and ability to act in accordance with local and organisational safeguarding policies.
  5. Commitment to equal opportunities, diversity, and equality.
