About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our team at Meadowcroft - The Gallery, part of Acorn Education. As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing academic support to pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the best possible education and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Learning
    • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences to pupils with special educational needs, tailored to their individual needs and abilities.
    • Develop and implement effective lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to monitor pupil progress and achievement.
  • Classroom Management
    • Establish and maintain a calm and safe learning environment, promoting positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
    • Manage classroom behavior, using strategies to minimize disruptions and maximize learning opportunities.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with colleagues, including teachers, teaching assistants, and other support staff, to ensure seamless support for pupils.
    • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other stakeholders to share pupil progress, achievements, and any concerns.

Meadowcroft is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged from 5 to 19, catering for pupils with a wide range of needs in 4 sites across Wakefield. Our dedicated team works together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.

We pride ourselves in steering pupils in the right direction, nurturing aspiration to progress them both academically and socially to encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Socially, we build confidence in our students, so they are able to have a greater understanding of the wider community in which they live.
