Role Overview:

The Interim Financial Director will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our client, a dynamic and growing infrastructure company. The successful candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, accounting, and financial analysis, with experience in a similar role within a private equity-backed professional services SME.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation and consolidation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS/GAAP and meeting the reporting requirements of the private equity backers.
  • Accounting Expertise: Provide expert guidance on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, contract accounting, and deferred income, tailored to the professional services sector.
  • Financial Controls: Implement and maintain strong financial controls across the organization to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, providing critical insights to support decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements, including managing audits and liaising with external auditors.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the finance function.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
  • Experience: Significant experience in a financial controller or similar role within a private equity-backed professional services SME.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and experience managing complex accounting issues in the professional services industry.
  • Personal Qualities: Proven track record in implementing and maintaining robust financial controls in a fast-paced environment.
