Position Overview
The Lead People Consultant will collaborate closely with the Head of People to provide a proactive and commercially focused advisory service to internal stakeholders. This role offers a unique opportunity to mentor and guide line managers at all levels on employee relations inquiries and people operations. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the people agenda, fostering our ACED culture, and delivering high-quality guidance on various employee relations issues, ensuring adherence to employment legislation and company policies. Additionally, you will contribute to the formulation and execution of people policies and procedures, supporting both tactical and strategic people projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to manage and resolve both routine and complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary actions, grievances, redundancies, and maternity/paternity matters.
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation and best practices to achieve optimal outcomes in all employee relations matters.
• Provide expert guidance and support to the business on employee relations issues, influencing key decision-makers.
• Support various projects within the People team, including:
• Onboarding and induction processes
• Health and wellbeing initiatives
• Restructuring, resourcing, and recruitment efforts
• Company culture and employee engagement (pulse surveys and action implementation)
• Performance management and addressing underperformance
• Offboarding, conducting exit interviews, and analyzing attrition trends for action planning.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments (e.g., Recruitment, Operations, Marketing) to enhance the employee experience and promote the Company as an excellent workplace.
• Proactively gather, evaluate, and analyze data (including trends) to support the implementation of employee relations initiatives, including absence management, occupational health services, and employee benefits.
• Advise on all employee relations matters concerning sponsored workers, immigration routes, and sponsored licenses, ensuring compliance with Home Office guidance.
• Support the ongoing review of HRIS systems to ensure alignment with business needs and to modernize or streamline processes.
• Assist the Head of People and/or People Partner in regular meetings with Heads of Practice/Senior Line Managers to support, advise, and influence them in managing their people KPIs, highlighting risks, and agreeing on actions to address any people-related issues and initiatives that align with company goals.
• Ensure compliance with all internal and external HR reporting requirements and audits by providing management information and tactical reports (such as ISO270001, client bids) and implementing people-related actions that are regularly reviewed.
• Stay informed about modern HR practices, legal matters, and best practices, working collaboratively with the people team to introduce and embed new ideas and initiatives to enhance the employee experience.
• Identify employee relations training needs across the organization and coach and develop line managers/employees in areas such as conduct, performance, maternity leave, dignity at work, and legislative matters.
• Review and enhance HR processes to improve workflows, including those related to HR administration, ensuring optimal operational effectiveness.
• Supervise the People Coordinators and support their professional development.
Essential Qualifications
• CIPD Level 5 qualification.
• Proven experience in HR managing complex employee relations cases independently and in collaboration with HR colleagues.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being capable of working autonomously.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Negotiation skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders and senior managers through excellent verbal and written communication.
• Up-to-date knowledge and application of employment legislation (including right to work/sponsored workers) with the ability to provide advice and guidance that is consistent with legal requirements, company policy, and best practices.
• Experience in developing HR policies and procedures and training to support the learning and development of Managers and Employees.
• Highly motivated and passionate about HR and best practices.
• Familiarity with HR systems and technology.
