About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Construction Project Manager with at least 10 years of industry experience to join their Property & Development team. This role is critical to the successful expansion and refurbishment of their leisure facilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing construction projects within the retail and leisure sectors and possess excellent communication and reporting skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of construction projects, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and handover.
  • Write detailed briefs and scopes of work for consultants and contractors, ensuring clear and comprehensive project documentation.
  • Manage the tendering process, negotiate contracts, and appoint contractors, ensuring the best value and quality.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, prepare progress reports, and oversee defects inspections and handovers.
  • Ensure all projects comply with Health & Safety and statutory requirements, including building control.
  • Develop, monitor, and control project budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Be actively involved in all aspects of the project, from documentation to on-site delivery, ensuring projects meet their objectives.
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously, with budgets ranging from £50k to £500k initially, with exposure to larger and more complex projects.
  • Provide regular updates to the Head of Property Development on project progress, budget status, and any significant issues.

Requirements

  • Previous extensive construction project management, with a preference for candidates with retail and leisure experience.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in project management software and a solid understanding of construction processes, building regulations, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide on a regular basis (weekly) as required by project demands.
