Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Logistics Coordinator to oversee the daily activities of our drivers, ensuring efficient and effective operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor driver activities to achieve set targets and optimize routes.
  • Control costs by managing nights out and monitoring parking locations.
  • Investigate revenue and cost targets, and ensure accurate timesheet approval.
  • Ensure correct costs on running sheets and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Allocate revenue correctly and ensure override dates are accurate.
  • Take responsibility for containers left on wheels in yards, ensuring exports meet vessel deadlines and empties are returned on time.
  • Ensure pickup legs are added for lifted containers and moved into the relevant planning screen.
  • Return containers to quay or depot before detention is incurred and prior to vessel cut-offs.
  • Assign vehicles and relevant information to backloads the day before the job.
  • Identify opportunities to increase profitability through one-way, tip, and reload utilization.
  • Communicate with drivers and provide weekend overtime shifts to the Planner by the end of play every Wednesday.
  • Monitor driver cover sheets for the next day in case of changes.
  • Ensure drivers are trained to use specialized equipment.
  • Verify jobs in your screen do not exceed legal weight requirements.
  • Ensure all ATA/ATD/ETA's and trailer numbers are in Truckcom.
  • Set override dates correctly to ensure sub-contractor trailer reports are accurate.
  • Monitor ETA's and enter late advisories at least 30 minutes before booking time.
  • Send demurrage warnings once the driver has been on site for 2 hours.
  • Ensure all vehicles are routed and drivers are aware of their job and start time.
  • Log on and use the Truckcom app for all OV's and sub-contractors.
  • Follow service and MOT schedules.
  • Research and understand drivers' legal working hours and update knowledge with internal training if required.
  • Build positive and effective relationships with drivers on your traffic sheet(s) to ensure a content workforce.
Qualifications

As a Logistics Coordinator, you will possess the following skills, experiences, and qualifications:

  • Oversee, manage, and monitor the daily activities of your allocated drivers.
  • Stay up-to-date with all relevant legislation and ensure regulations, policies, and procedures are followed.
  • Make decisions in the best interests of the Company and for clients, elevating issues to your line manager when necessary.
  • Promote a company culture that encourages high morale and top performance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Minimize operation expenditure within the business wherever possible.
  • Understand and comply with the Health, Safety, and Environment Policy and carry out work in accordance with its requirements.
  • Set a personal example with respect to health and safety.
  • Be an effective team player.
  • Be proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and all other in-house systems.
  • Be able to question, challenge, and improve upon existing processes.
  • Establish effective working relationships.
  • Work to tight deadlines.
  • Multi-task with a calm and flexible approach.
  • Have a positive attitude.
  • Have a methodical and organized approach.
