We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced practitioner to join our hospital-based learning disability and autism liaison team in a Clinical Educator role.
The successful candidate will have a keen interest, relevant knowledge, and experience in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism in hospital settings.
The role involves delivering education and training to the acute hospital workforce on supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, and working collaboratively with the liaison team to identify need, develop, and facilitate workforce education across the acute trust sites.
The post holder will be a key member of the Learning Disability and Autism Acute liaison team and will work independently and as part of a team to establish high-quality, compassionate, person-centred healthcare for our patients who have a learning disability or are Autistic.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate empathetically with colleagues, patients, relatives, and/or carers, and have the ability to work under pressure across competing priorities.
The role requires a thorough understanding of contemporary nursing issues, including health inequality, and the ability to use research and integrate the evidence base into practice.
The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering training packages suitable for a range of professional groups, and will have the opportunity to work with experts by experience to co-develop content.
The successful candidate will be a registered nurse or AHP with a degree in nursing studies or a healthcare-related subject, and will have evidence of continued professional development.
The role is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term post, and the successful candidate will be based at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
We welcome all applications, regardless of race, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion/belief, age, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, and in particular those from under-represented groups.
We offer a range of benefits, including flexible working, access to high-quality education and training, and a commitment to the health and wellbeing of our staff.
