The Kingston GP Chambers is seeking a qualified part-time Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dedicated team at West Barnes Surgery. The ideal candidate will be required to work a set number of hours each week, specifically on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings.
West Barnes Surgery serves a diverse patient population exceeding 7,000 individuals and is managed by a team of four partners. Our staff comprises 30 professionals across clinical and administrative roles. The practice has received a 'good' rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare in a supportive and friendly environment.
At the core of our practice is a commitment to patient care, aiming to provide tailored medical and nursing services. We strive to ensure that our patients receive the same level of care we would wish for ourselves and our families.
Key Responsibilities
Role Summary:
As a member of the primary healthcare team, you will provide essential medical services to our patients, including treatment, preventive care, health screenings, and patient education.
We are open to providing support for candidates who may lack experience in certain areas. However, as a medium-sized practice, there may be occasions when you will be the sole nurse on duty. It is crucial that you possess the confidence to take initiative while also collaborating effectively with our strong team.
Primary Duties:
General Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other nursing and healthcare professionals to organize and deliver nursing services to the practice population.
- Administer nursing treatments to patients in conjunction with General Practitioners (GPs) or independently, adhering to established protocols.
- Conduct general and specific health screenings for patients, referring to GPs as necessary.
- Provide guidance to patients on general health matters and minor ailments, with appropriate referrals to GPs.
Essential Duties:
- Cytology and sexual health assessments.
- Wound management.
- Sexual health services.
- Diabetes care.
- Suture removal.
- Administration of Zoladex.
- Contraceptive services.
- Routine and childhood immunizations.
Non-Essential Duties:
- Travel health consultations.
- Management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
- Asthma care.
- Spirometry testing.
- FeNO testing.
Education and Training:
- Engage in the education and training of students from various disciplines and other members of the nursing and healthcare assistant teams.
Collaboration:
- Maintain effective communication with other agencies and staff involved in patient care, ensuring confidentiality is upheld.
