Role Overview


• This position is part of a structured mentoring and development initiative aimed at newly qualified educators, designed to enhance teaching competencies to the fundamental level during the initial two years of teaching experience under the supervision of a seasoned instructor.


• To facilitate and deliver high-quality instruction and effective learning of the English language.


• To support the broader objectives of the British Council and its mission in cultural relations.

Key Opportunities and Challenges for This Role:

Design, prepare, and deliver exceptional English language instruction tailored to the diverse needs of various learner groups, considering individual learning preferences. Assess progress and provide ongoing feedback to assist in managing student performance throughout the course, while actively encouraging learner independence. Contribute to the creation, evaluation, and enhancement of English language programs, materials, and associated services to meet student requirements by collaborating as a member of the teaching team. Complete teaching-related administrative duties to established standards. Engage proactively in professional growth and performance management to ensure excellence and high standards in teaching and learning, maintaining the British Council's leadership in best practices in English Language Teaching (ELT). Successfully complete the mentoring program and demonstrate essential competencies in all teaching skills within the designated timeframe. Foster the development of enduring, mutually beneficial relationships by enriching students' understanding of contemporary UK culture. Assist in local marketing and promotional strategies, supporting the teaching center team in delivering outstanding customer service. Adhere to child protection policies. Promote equal opportunity and diversity. Ensure health and safety compliance.

Main Responsibilities:

Support the British Council's global English strategy by:

Progressing towards the essential level of teaching skills under the mentorship of an experienced educator and participating in a formal mentoring and development program. Demonstrating essential teaching skills upon completion of the formal mentoring program. Enhancing the British Council's reputation as a global leader in English Language Teaching.

Accountabilities:

Ensuring that teaching aligns with learner needs and expectations. Meeting Teaching Quality standards and organizational expectations. Maintaining positive relationships with students and colleagues. Supporting the activities of the teaching center and the strategic objectives of the British Council.
