Role Overview

This position is integral to a structured mentoring and development initiative aimed at newly qualified educators, designed to cultivate essential teaching competencies during the initial two years of their professional journey under the mentorship of a seasoned instructor.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, prepare, and implement high-quality English language instruction tailored to diverse learner profiles, considering individual learning preferences. Assess student progress and provide consistent feedback to facilitate effective performance management throughout the course, while fostering learner independence. Engage in the enhancement, assessment, and refinement of English language programs, materials, and associated services to align with student requirements, collaborating as an active member of the teaching team. Complete teaching-related administrative duties in accordance with established standards. Participate in ongoing professional development and performance evaluation to uphold excellence in teaching and learning, ensuring the British Council's leadership in best practices in English Language Teaching (ELT). Foster enduring, mutually beneficial relationships by enriching students' comprehension of contemporary UK culture. Assist in local marketing and promotional strategies, contributing to the teaching center's commitment to exceptional customer service. Uphold child protection protocols. Promote equal opportunity and diversity. Ensure health and safety standards are met.

Main Accountabilities:

Support the British Council's global English strategy by:

Advancing towards essential teaching skill levels under the guidance of an experienced educator and engaging in a formal mentoring and development program. Demonstrating essential teaching competencies upon completion of the formal mentoring program. Enhancing the British Council's standing as a global authority in English Language Teaching.

Responsibilities:

Ensure instructional practices meet learner needs and expectations. Maintain compliance with Teaching Quality standards and organizational expectations. Cultivate positive relationships with students and colleagues. Support the activities of the teaching center and the overarching objectives of the British Council.
