Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Quarry Operations Manager to join our team at Tarmac Trading Limited.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the safe and efficient operation of a busy quarry, reporting directly to the Operations Manager.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a highly skilled team to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk.
  • Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reports.
  • Oversee all aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations.
  • Proactively manage an effective maintenance scheme for the quarry plant and equipment.
  • Maintain and implement Standard Operating Procedures and risk assessments.
  • Manage and oversee the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all of the site's equipment, fixed and mobile.
  • Report and investigate any unsafe or hazardous working practices.
  • Issue safety briefings and toolbox talks to the operational team.
  • Manage proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of staff.
  • Collate and report monthly performance KPIs and drive operational performance.
Requirements
  • Indepth experience gained within Quarrying Operations.
  • Good understanding of Quarry Regulations 1999 (Reg 8).
  • Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems.
  • Working knowledge of production processes, Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (SAP advantageous).
  • Ability to multitask and confidently manage change.
  • Good understanding of different methods of winning and extracting raw material.
  • Knowledge of techniques employed to load and transport extracted minerals.
  • Working knowledge of handling raw materials, including feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification, and beneficiation techniques.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous.
  • Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology advantageous.
