As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our operations.
- Location: Wednesbury (WS10)
- Salary: £39,139 Per Annum
- Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (06:00 - 18:00 / 18:00 - 06:00), 42 hours per week
- Contract Type: Permanent
We are looking for a qualified Mechanical Engineer to enhance our team at a leading parcel delivery service. The ideal candidate will focus on the upkeep and repair of conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms to guarantee the efficient functioning of our distribution operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms to detect potential issues and ensure peak performance.
- Address breakdowns and resolve technical challenges related to conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms, including diagnosing faulty components, replacing parts, and resetting systems.
- Execute preventative maintenance on conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms, including lubrication, cleaning, and calibration.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to create and enforce maintenance schedules, procedures, and protocols.
- Identify areas for improvement in the maintenance of conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms, providing recommendations to management.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Offer mentorship and support to junior technicians and apprentices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally within a dynamic industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Comprehensive understanding of conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms, encompassing electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components.
- Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues efficiently.
- Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively, possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective organizational and time-management abilities, with a knack for prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Relevant qualifications in an engineering or technical field, such as mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and experience in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Willingness to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, including weekends and nights.
