Database Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer to join our team at Ennismore. As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient database systems using MS SQL Server, Google BigQuery, or other structured/unstructured database solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Design and Implementation: Design and implement efficient database systems to meet business requirements.
  • SQL Query Development: Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views for reporting and data integration.
  • Data Warehouse Management: Manage data warehouses, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability.
  • API Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement APIs to interface with databases and other applications.
  • Data Migration and Transformation: Perform data migration, transformation, and normalization between systems.
  • Database Performance Optimization: Continuously identify areas for database performance improvement and proactively address bottlenecks.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Industry Trends and Best Practices: Keep up with industry trends and best practices to enhance data management strategies.
Requirements:
  • Essential Experience: Experience as a SQL Database Engineer or similar role.
  • Database Expertise: Proficiency in MS SQL Server and Google BigQuery or similar databases (both structured and unstructured data).
  • ETL Processes and Data Pipelines: Experience with ETL processes, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
  • API Knowledge: Experience with APIs and integration into database systems is a must.
  • Data Warehousing: Strong experience in managing and maintaining data warehouses.
  • Data Security and Compliance: Knowledge of data security and compliance regulations.
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization: Strong understanding of performance tuning and database optimization.

  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven Track Record: Proven track record of ideating, executing, and building out data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Hotel Industry Experience: Knowledge of the hotel industry and experience working within hospitality is beneficial, especially in the areas of booking engine optimization, upselling, and digital guest experience.
  • Complex Business Experience: Experience working across complex businesses and managing different stakeholders.
