About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Architect to join our team at Barclays, where you will play a key role in shaping the future of our digital landscape. As a Senior Database Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving software solutions that provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and Development
  • Develop high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Ensure that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements and devise solution strategies.
  • Ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
Technical Leadership
  • Collaborate with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations.
Security and Compliance
  • Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Risk Management
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
Analysis and Communication
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information.
  • Communicate complex information, which could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
