Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to work with our team in the Addition Recovery Community (ARC). The successful candidate will have experience in managing and treating individuals with problematic use of novel psychoactive substances and associated alcohol/drug misuse.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement comprehensive care and treatment plans for clients.
- Assess and address the psychological, emotional, social, and rehabilitative needs of clients, considering family and community contexts.
- Provide specialized case management for clients who inject drugs, including assessment of injection sites and implementation of harm reduction practices.
- Deliver direct clinical care and case management for complex clients, particularly those with dual diagnoses of mental and physical health issues alongside substance misuse.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of individualized care plans.
- Facilitate seamless transitions of care between agencies and services for clients.
- Offer clinical advice and support to healthcare colleagues and external agencies involved in substance misuse care.
- Ensure the safe and effective storage, administration, and documentation of controlled substances in accordance with organizational policies.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and implement risk management strategies effectively.
- Perform dry blood spot testing for blood-borne viruses (BBVs), urinalysis, and screen clients at risk of BBVs, planning appropriate service responses.
- Educate and advocate for Hepatitis B vaccination among at-risk clients, and administer vaccinations according to organizational protocols.
- Provide pre- and post-test counselling for clients screened for BBVs, ensuring adherence to guidelines and care plans.
- Promote attendance at hepatology clinics for clients with liver disease and collaborate with various medical departments to provide expert care.
- Assist in coordinating care between addiction services and Hepatology/Gastroenterology departments.
- Adhere to Resuscitation, Infection Control, and Needle Stick Injury Policies, and maintain mandatory training certifications in CPR and Anaphylaxis.
Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent in Nursing with active NMC Registration
- Recent nursing experience in the UK
- Knowledge of addiction/substance misuse
