Distribution Centre Operations Manager

Huws Gray Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Distribution Centre Operations Manager to join our team in Lincoln. As a key member of our Supply Chain Solutions business, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective distribution of products to our customers and branches.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement distribution strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives, including determining the most efficient distribution channels, transportation methods, and warehouse locations.
- Monitor and manage stock levels to ensure that products are readily available for distribution while avoiding overstocking or understocking issues.
- Oversee the transportation of goods, which may involve coordinating with carriers, negotiating transportation contracts, and ensuring compliance with safety and security requirements.
- Optimise warehouse operations, including storage, regulations, and order fulfillment processes, to ensure seamless and efficient distribution.
- Supervise a team of distribution staff, including warehouse operatives and drivers, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Maintain quality control measures to ensure that products are handled and shipped without damage or defects.
- Previous experience in a warehouse/distribution centre environment, preferably as a team leader or supervisor.
- Comfortable supervising a team in a busy environment, providing leadership and development to the team.
- Demonstrate a broad knowledge of Health & Safety in the warehousing environment.
- Experience of using IT systems to manage the day-to-day running of the distribution processes, including stock management, vehicle tracking, and order updates.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with internal teams, external partners, and customers.
- Creative initiative with strong problem-solving ability.
- Ability to build strong relationships, both externally and internally.
- Good presentation and communication skills.
- Versatile and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
- PC Literacy Skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Passion for delivering "Right First Time" solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize distribution processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, customer demands, and industry trends.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order fulfillment and quality control.
