Job Title: Digital Archivist

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Archivist to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing digital preservation principles and good practice at our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead on a survey of born-digital records to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations for cataloguing and access.
  2. Work with the Archive Programme Manager to review existing born-digital and digitized archival records and develop a digital preservation strategy for the long-term security of our archives.
  3. Develop workflows for processing the backlog of born-digital archives, taking into account GDPR, copyright, and business needs.
  4. Deliver a programme of activities to enhance our collections and improve staff access to digital archives.
  5. Advocate for and engage with colleagues about the benefits of long-term digital preservation and best practice relating to digital archives.
  6. Liaise with the wider archive and digital preservation communities to identify good practice and establish monitoring/reporting benchmarks.
  7. Contribute to the development of a vision, strategy, and five-year Action Plan for the Archive Service.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital preservation, archives management, and information management. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have excellent communication and project management skills.
