Your Responsibilities

As a Lead Project Planner, you will report to the Planning Lead and be tasked with the following:

  • Creating and updating comprehensive project schedules using planning software.
  • Integrating and overseeing subcontractor and supplier schedules alongside our internal timelines.
  • Analyzing and interpreting project documentation and tender information.
  • Understanding construction methodologies and translating them into actionable plans.
  • Collaborating with estimators and commercial teams on all scheduling matters.
  • Preparing clear narratives, phases, reports, and documentation for quality submissions.
  • Taking ownership of the project schedule to ensure timely delivery.
  • Employing various planning techniques to effectively communicate project timelines.
  • Providing program information, risk assessments, and commercial insights to operational teams in diverse formats.
  • Facilitating collaborative planning sessions with clients and subcontractors as needed.
  • Monitoring project progress and generating reports in line with contractual obligations.
  • Managing changes in project schedules and supporting commercial teams.
  • Evaluating subcontractor schedules and supply chain timelines.
  • Adhering to established business processes and systems.
  • Staying informed about the latest construction techniques.
Candidate Profile
  • Experience in managing programs under NEC contracts is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of planning experience is required, along with the ability to manage your workload and support junior Planning Engineers.
  • A qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction at HND level or equivalent is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in planning software, particularly P6, is essential.
  • A proven track record of developing and managing project schedules.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Comfortable in client-facing roles and presentations.
  • Experience working closely with construction teams and understanding their scheduling needs.
  • Logical thinking and organized work habits are crucial.
  • Ability to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Experience in generating project control information using Excel and Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience with tenders is beneficial.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a history of managing changes within NEC contracts.
