**Job Summary**
Balfour Beatty Living Places is seeking a highly skilled Senior Highway Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for managing and undertaking civil/highway engineering designs for various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver design works for allocated projects, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to local and national standards.
- Lead and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with the Design Manager and Programme Manager to plan and deliver design work, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
- Prepare and submit estimates of design input for projects, working closely with the Programme Coordinator to incorporate project information into the integrated programme.
- Ensure design work meets the requirements and principles of the BBLP safety systems, applying CDM regulations effectively.
- Utilize software such as AutoCad and BIM (Building Information Modelling) to deliver high-quality designs.
- Apply the latest highway design documentation, including LTN1/20, to ensure designs meet industry standards.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on on and off the public highway construction sites.
- Experience with NEC Option 3 contract type and design or technical background is essential.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in highway design and management, with a strong understanding of local and national standards.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
- Strong technical expertise in software such as AutoCad and BIM, with experience in applying the latest highway design documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to deliver project goals.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex design issues and develop effective solutions.
