Claire at Amber Mace is recruiting for an experienced Children's Home Manager to lead and manage a brand new children's home in Wolverhampton. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of a new service and make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance with regulatory requirements, particularly Ofsted.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Oversee the daily operations of the children's home, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for all residents.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the home meets all Ofsted requirements, including preparation for inspections, and maintaining a high standard of care that meets or exceeds regulatory standards.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of dedicated care staff, fostering a supportive and professional working environment. Lead by example, offering guidance and mentorship to the team.
  • Care Planning: Develop and oversee the implementation of individual care plans that address the specific needs of each child, working closely with social workers, therapists, and other professionals.
  • Budget Management: Manage the home's budget effectively, ensuring resources are used efficiently while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, external agencies, and the community to ensure the home's success and reputation.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure all safeguarding procedures are strictly followed, maintaining the safety and welfare of the children as the top priority.
Essential Requirements:
  • Experience: Must have experience managing a children's home, with a proven track record of achieving positive Ofsted ratings.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Ofsted regulations and experience in preparing for and leading successful inspections.
  • Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities with experience in recruiting, training, and developing staff.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Safeguarding: Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, with a commitment to maintaining a safe environment for children.
