Are you passionate about contributing to a dynamic and evolving organization?

Do you excel in collaborative environments that engage various business sectors?

If you are eager to make a significant impact, we invite you to consider a role as an MOT Product Specialist with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

Role Responsibilities

In the capacity of an MOT Product Specialist, you will be an integral member of the MOT Testing Service Policy Team. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring that all facets of the MOT services align with legislative requirements, customer expectations, stakeholder interests, and DVSA objectives.

Your role will involve providing guidance and support to DVSA personnel, customers, and stakeholders regarding MOT policies and procedures. Additionally, you will be instrumental in formulating and implementing new policies and procedures aimed at enhancing service delivery.

As a subject matter expert, you may collaborate with our digital teams to develop MOT-related digital products, with training provided to facilitate this collaboration.

We prioritize user needs in our operations, and the role demands an understanding of diverse perspectives while fostering innovative solutions. As part of the Policy Digital & Data directorate, the MOT service has a significant digital component, making it a priority service.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborating with Product Managers to guide MOT products and policies from initial concept through to execution and, if necessary, conclusion.
  • Evaluating product data and information to demonstrate the advantages of modifications by outlining costs, benefits, risks, and potential responses, while engaging stakeholders to inform decision-making and enhance engagement.
  • Working alongside the policy manager and service owner to maintain work backlogs that reflect user needs, articulating these backlogs into roadmaps and service plans for DVSA and external partners.
  • Clearly defining requirements for operational and digital delivery teams, including setting technical standards, quality expectations, testing protocols, policies, and service levels.
  • Actively participating in meetings with senior management from both internal and external stakeholder groups.

Candidate Profile

We seek individuals who are ready to challenge the status quo. You should be adept at navigating periods of change and recognize the value of fostering a culture of change among colleagues.

Your expertise in understanding user needs is essential, including skills in interpreting user feedback, analyzing survey results, and conducting data analysis to comprehend the environments in which our users operate.

Strong organizational and planning skills are necessary, enabling you to prioritize tasks effectively for maximum efficiency. You should be a proficient problem solver, capable of making sound decisions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, allowing you to build positive working relationships and collaborate with others to achieve results. You should be prepared to lead projects and deliverables.

Confidence in representing the policy team and the Agency is essential, providing valuable insights and influence to a range of stakeholders and customers, with the ability to clearly explain policies and standards.
