Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Bid Development team at Siemens Mobility Limited. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality bids and tenders for rail electrification projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the entire bid lifecycle, from bid/no-bid decisions through customer negotiations to contract award, for bids ranging from £10k to £50m+.
  • Develop and implement winning bid strategies by breaking down tender requirements and coordinating technical aspects of estimation and proposal creation.
  • Prepare and coordinate engineering documentation for bids, ensuring consistency, quality, and risk mitigation while incorporating lessons learned.
  • Develop contract-specific specifications and documents to support bid activities, ensuring all technical aspects are delivered on time and meet specifications.
  • Produce and propose cost-effective system solutions and architectures that comply with contract specifications, improve safety, reliability, and throughput.
  • Ensure bid engineering aspects meet customer specifications, safety regulations, and design standards, and support business leads in client negotiations.
  • Prepare and deliver internal and external presentations, including to senior management, and ensure timely communication of all internal reports.
  • Transfer knowledge from the bids and tendering team to delivery teams, verifying tender details and ensuring smooth handover to delivery teams.
  • Facilitate the improvement of company processes and standards within the bids and tendering department and ensure adherence to the Business Management System.
  • Provide office-based technical support to Bid Managers, assisting in bid preparation, client negotiations, and ensuring early integration of purchasing functions.

Requirements

  • Experience in working in a railway electrification engineering company with a technical background in railway electrification and rail sub-systems.
  • Understanding of the way in which railway electrification projects are managed and delivered, with the ability to influence, monitor, and challenge every aspect of the bid.
  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a business or technically related discipline.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with people at all levels within Siemens Mobility Limited, while fostering strong working relationships in a collaborative manner.
  • Commercial acumen, with the ability to apply technical knowledge in a commercial context.
  • Pro-active individual with high energy levels, able to work to challenging deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint.
