Job Title: Adult Psychiatry Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adult Psychiatry Consultant to join our team at the Transformation Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in adult psychiatry, with a focus on older adult care.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have a strong background in adult psychiatry, with a particular emphasis on older adult care. You will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care, leading a team of professionals, and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in adult psychiatry, with a focus on older adult care
  • Lead a team of professionals to deliver high-quality clinical care
  • Contribute to the development of our services, including service improvement and quality assurance
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for patients
  • Participate in education and training programs to maintain and enhance your skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists qualification in liaison psychiatry, home treatment, or addictions
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
  • Experience in other relevant specialties such as inpatient psychiatry
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
  • Evidence for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT in older adult psychiatry
  • Section 12 and Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment
Skills and Experience
  • Evidence of excellent knowledge in specialty
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
  • Evidence of a range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the post within NHS or comparable service
