How will you contribute to our mission?
In the role of Service Technician, you will oversee the servicing and upkeep of wind turbines, specifically those manufactured by Nordex. Your responsibilities will encompass both general and specialized tasks, including repairs, diagnostics, and troubleshooting efforts. Our aim is to maintain optimal operational efficiency for our wind turbine fleet.
What will your responsibilities include?
You will ensure the availability of wind turbines, which involves physically diagnosing issues on-site at various wind farms, as well as analyzing data to formulate and implement action plans aimed at enhancing fleet availability.
Key duties for this position comprise:
- Conducting on-site performance evaluations and executing action plans
- Collaborating closely with fellow technicians and administrative staff to provide hands-on demonstrations
- Assisting with improvements on individual turbines facing challenges
- Delivering on-site software and hardware updates
- Offering technical support via online and telephone channels
- Generating reports on turbine performance and components
- Managing parameter adjustments and alarm modifications as needed
Our standard working hours are 40 per week (Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm). Should a turbine issue arise at the end of your shift, you may be required to extend your hours to resolve it. Additionally, our Service Technicians are expected to be available for emergency repairs during weekends, with on-call duties rotating every 2nd or 3rd weekend. Overtime is compensated at time and a half, along with extra pay for weekends on call.
What qualifications are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will possess experience in the Mechanical or Electrical sectors and demonstrate proficiency in interpreting electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics.
You should have formal training in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines, either through apprenticeship or a technical college qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
You must be capable of identifying and analyzing problems, extracting essential information from technical data, and developing effective solutions while adapting to a dynamic work environment. A positive attitude and eagerness to learn and improve are essential.
Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, along with experience in database and workload management systems, is expected; familiarity with SAP is a plus.
This position requires working at heights of up to 100 meters, necessitating good physical fitness and the ability to pass a working-at-height assessment.
Regular travel, including overnight stays, will be part of this role. A valid UK/EU Driving Licence is mandatory.
