Role Overview:

We are in search of a seasoned Solutions Architect to enhance our Hiscox Re & ILS division. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong sense of ownership and pride in their contributions. The successful candidate will leverage their experience across various change initiatives, providing architectural guidance and producing relevant architecture deliverables tailored to the scope of the change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume complete responsibility for the design and implementation of innovative solutions that are secure, scalable, efficient, resilient, compliant, and commercially viable, ensuring alignment with broader strategies and standards.
  • Collaborate with Agile delivery teams throughout the entire lifecycle of change initiatives, from requirements gathering to business-as-usual operations.
  • Produce architecture deliverables such as High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Medium-Level Designs (MLDs) using consistent templates and approved tools, while actively seeking and documenting necessary information.
  • Partner with the Lead Architect to advance the architecture practice, embedding architectural principles and strategies into Agile planning and execution.
  • Engage with business domain experts and product owners to identify problem statements and value realization opportunities, often in collaboration with business analysts.
  • Interact with a diverse range of colleagues, from technical staff to senior business leaders, adapting engagement styles and terminology to suit stakeholder interests.
  • Work closely with vendors to assess their suitability and product offerings, contributing to the review of Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

Skills/Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of solution architecture, including its phases and the significance of architectural processes.
  • Experience in designing on-premise, cloud, and hybrid solutions, with a strong preference for Windows and Azure PaaS experience; containerization knowledge is a plus.
  • Proven ability to produce architecture deliverables and artifacts.
  • Experience in conceptual and logical data modeling, with the capability to visually represent complex ideas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Software Delivery Lifecycles and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of EA frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or Kotusev.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, with SAFe knowledge being advantageous.
  • Experience with tools like Confluence, Teams, LucidChart, and Jira.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
