Consultant in Cardiothoracic Histopathology

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Cardiothoracic Histopathologist to join our team at the Wythenshawe site. Our cardiothoracic department is a regional centre for breast and cardiothoracic surgery, and we are a leader in lung screening programmes within Greater Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching and training.
  • Contribute to the development of our lung screening programme.
  • Collaborate with our research team to advance our understanding of cardiothoracic diseases.

Person Specification:

  • MB ChB or Equivalent
  • Full and Specialist Registration
  • FRCPath or Equivalent
  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • MD, PhD or other higher degree

Teaching and Audit:

  • Experience of Audit in Cellular pathology
  • Teaching of junior medical staff
  • Trained Clinical Supervisor
  • Teaching of medical students
  • Experience of supervision of ST1 level trainees
  • Trained Educational Supervisor

Academic Achievements and Research:

  • Publications in recognised Pathological and Clinical Journals
  • Specialist interest in areas of Cellular pathology
  • Research projects relating to the specialist area

Interpersonal / Professional Skills:

  • Organisational skills
  • Involvement in service development and/or quality improvement processes
